Parks & Recreation

Our department oversees a vast expanse of parkland, with numerous parks, golf courses, outdoor ice rinks, dog parks, aquatic facilities, an extensive network of paved recreation trails, and a significant number of trees.  Parks and Recreation divisions provide safe and enjoyable programs, places, and partnerships:

• Park Operations maintains parks, properties, and equipment. The forestry team nurtures an abundant urban forest.
• Recreation oversees athletic facilities and special events and provides more than 900 program experiences every year.
• Park Planning and Projects leads the development of all parks and facilities.

A seven-member citizen board supports the Department's work. The Parks & Recreation Board reviews policies governing the City’s parks and recreation facilities.

Working together, we follow national standards for efficient and effective operations. We proudly hold an accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) since 2010.
