Published on October 16, 2024

City of Sioux Falls departments will host free events for residents looking for seasonal activities. These events are great ways for the community to come together, meet neighbors, and embrace the festivities of the season. This year, the Sioux Falls Police Department and Siouxland Libraries are hosting first-ever events for residents.

The inaugural Sioux Falls Public Service Trunk or Treat will take place Thursday, October 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot south of Sioux Falls Stadium. This community event, hosted by Sioux Falls Police, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, and other public service agencies, invites families to enjoy an evening of fun, including candy, public service vehicles and more. Parking will be available at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

“We value every opportunity to connect with our community and build relationships,” said Officer Brady Lieuwen. “Engaging with our neighbors helps strengthen those bonds, and we’re excited to see everyone tomorrow.” Costumes are encouraged, and all are welcome.”

Siouxland Libraries is hosting a series of free programs and events during October. This inaugural series has a variety of activities from October 17 to October 29 for adults who are 18 or older and love the horror genre.

“Siouxland Libraries is always looking for relevant and fun ways to welcome the community into our branches,” Kim Koblank, Ronning Branch Librarian said. “In October, we see customers getting excited about the horror genre and spooky things.
