Street Construction Update

Street Closure – Shirley Avenue

Beginning on Sunday afternoon, July 21, 2024, South Shirley Avenue will be closed from Shirley Place to 34th Street.

The Sioux Falls Street Division will be performing road maintenance work. Weather pending, this work is anticipated to be completed by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Lane Closures – 85th Street

Beginning on Monday, July 22, 2024, the inside westbound lane and inside eastbound left turn lane on West 85th Street will be closed just west of Louise Avenue.

Q3 will be removing the median for upcoming work as part of the ongoing work for Xcel Energy. This median tear out work is anticipated to be complete by Thursday, July 25, 2024.

Xcel Energy is continuing work on installing new underground and overhead facilities. This work is ongoing and anticipated to be completed in August, depending on weather and construction progress.

Lane Closure – Phillips Avenue

Beginning on Monday, July 22, 2024, the northbound lane on South Phillips Avenue will be closed between Ninth Street and 10th Street to allow crews to perform concrete repairs. Traffic will be detoured to Dakota Avenue. Southbound traffic will not be impacted.

Weather permitting, all work is expected to be completed within one week.

Lane Closure – Minnesota Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the outside northbound lane on South Minnesota Avenue will be closed between 69th Street and Saint Andrews Drive to allow crews to perform concrete repairs.

Weather permitting, all work is expected to be completed within one week.

Street Closure – Lowell Avenue

Beginning on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, North Lowell Avenue will be closed between Rice Street and Homestead Circle.

First Rate Excavate will be working on utilities. The work is expected to be complete in one week.

Street Closure – 33rd Street

Beginning on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, East 33rd Street will be closed to through traffic between Van Eps Avenue and Blauvelt Avenue to allow crews to perform sanitary sewer repairs. Traffic will be detoured to East 34th Street. 

Weather permitting, the repairs are anticipated to be complete within one week.
