The Visual Arts Committee shall act as an advisory body to the Arts Commission on matters pertaining to visual art. Its duties may include:
- Establishing criteria for visual art in city owned property that is compatible with the general, social, and physical environment of the site. Criteria should also contemplate originality, diversity of style, quality, scale, form, material, and durability;
- Reviewing visual art projects as requested and identifying potential sites;
- Recommending the placement of visual art in or on City property, and in the public right-of-way;
- Encouraging the incorporation of visual art into the design of commercial, residential, and public projects;
- Encouraging art in the inception of City design and building projects;
- Maintaining a directory of the City's inventory of visual art, including receipt annually of the City's plan for conservation and maintenance of artworks;
- Develop and recommend policy for works of art to be acquired by the city, either by purchase, gift, or otherwise;
- Develop and recommend policy on any proposed alteration, removal, or dismantling of visual art projects owned by the City or on City property.
