We want families to feel safe and confident when they leave their children at daycare, which is why we require all home and family daycares to demonstrate proof and maintenance of licenses to operate.

There are 3 types of care options offered in Sioux Falls. More detailed information about each, including regulations and requirements, can be found by clicking each of the daycare types below.

 

Daycare Center

A facility providing care for more than 12 children in Sioux Falls that requires a state registration and inspections.

Family Daycare

Care is provided within a dwelling for 7-12 children that require a City of Sioux Falls Health Department registration and a Zoning permit.

Home Daycare

Care is provided within a dwelling for 6 or fewer children and requires a City of Sioux Falls Health Department registration.
