Flexible pricing options are available for families, seniors and more, with no cancellation fees! Reduced-income passes available for Sioux Falls residents who actively receive reduced or free school lunches, or actively receive Medicaid benefits.

Programs and Classes

From group fitness and group swim lessons to programs for kids and families and senior programs, we offer something for everyone. Children must be accompanied by an individual 14 years of age or older.

On April 17, the City of Sioux Falls announced it would purchase the Sanford Wellness Center at the Tea-Ellis location. Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation will operate the facility starting January 1, 2025.

Why is the City buying this facility?

Today, Sioux Falls has less indoor recreation space than the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) recommends, which is 1.5 square feet per person. This purchase helps to close that gap. The 74,000-square-foot facility will allow for indoor recreation in Sioux Falls, including aquatics, court sports, walking/running track, recreation programs, classes, and community spaces for all ages.

What will the facility be named?

On January 1, the facility will be named the Westside Recreation Center. The City anticipates seeking out potential donors, and it may include a naming opportunity for one of them on the building.

Will the facility shut down during the transition of ownership?

No. The building will have not shut down during its transition to a new owner.

Indoor Aquatics

Our indoor pool features slides, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. There’s access to full-amenity locker rooms. Children under 7 need adult supervision. Swimsuits and swim diapers are required. Follow posted height and safety guidelines.

Fitness Area

We have a variety of weight and cardio equipment for all types of exercise, plus an indoor walking track and group fitness studios. Children ages 12 and older can use the workout area and track. Children under 12 must be with a guardian or in a class. Equipment must be sanitized between use.

Sport Courts

The Westside Recreation Center has indoor courts for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and more. It has one outdoor court and two racquetball courts. An adult must supervise children under 7. Follow court etiquette and wear proper attire. Only water is allowed on courts.
