Service Changes

What changes to the facility are the City planning for?

Parks and Recreation is committed to a smooth transition and keeping operations similar to those of the previous owners. In the first year, the City plans to make improvements. This includes resurfacing courts and repaving the parking lot in 2025. We will update our social media channels and alert passholders of any changes through email.

Will there be changes to the fitness equipment in the facility under City ownership?

No. When the City takes over operations, no fitness equipment will be removed.

Will there be an indoor playground under City ownership?

At this time, there will not be an indoor playground when the City takes over operations on January 1, 2025.

 

Will the facility have towel service under City ownership?

No. Visitors will need to bring their own towels for bathing or swimming. Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation is discontinuing towel service on January 1, 2025 to streamline operations.

Can I expect my same class options?

Our goal is to offer many of the same group fitness classes currently available. The final class schedule will be available in December at recreation.siouxfalls.gov.

Do you offer childcare while I work out?

No. Drop-in childcare (Kidzone) will no longer be available starting January 1. However, we will offer scheduled programming opportunities for kids and families throughout the year. You will be able to register at recreation.siouxfalls.gov.

Amenities and Services

How do you sanitize equipment?

There’s a sanitized wipe around the fitness floor. We encourage visitors to sanitize equipment after each use.

What types of amenities does the Westside Recreation Center offer?

The Westside Recreation Center features aquatics, court sports, a walking/running track, recreation programs, classes, and community spaces for all ages.

What are the facility hours?

Monday–Thursday: 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday: 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday*: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

*Starting in 2025

Admissions and Passes

When can I register for a pass?

Starting December 2024, pass sales will be live.

How much do passes cost?

The pricing structure for the Westside Recreation Center offers daily, monthly, and yearly pass options with the goal of making this facility accessible to the entire community. Discounted rates are available for children, adults, seniors, veterans, families, and qualifying individuals. Pass options are available online at siouxfalls.gov/westside

When does my pass go into effect?

Passes for the Westside Recreation Center are effective starting January 1, 2025.

How do I register my family for passes?

It’s easy to add your immediate family to a new or existing account. Visit the Household page and add family members by clicking “Add New Member.”

I bought my pass online. How do I get my pass?

Passholders will receive a keyfob pass during their first in-person visit. Check in at the Westside Recreation Center and one of our employees will help you.

Do I have to sign a contract when I sign up for a pass?

No. Annual and monthly passes do not have contracts or cancellation fees.

Does the Westside Recreation Center have any scholarships or financial assistance for passes?

Discounts are available for qualifying individuals and families who are residents of Sioux Falls and actively receive reduced or free school lunches or Medicaid benefits. Veterans can also get discounts. This is available for an individual who has or is currently serving in the United States military and must provide documentation of service, such as a Military ID. Do I get access to the Midco® Aquatic Center along with my pass to the Westside Recreation Center?

No. A daily, monthly, or annual pass to the Westside Recreation Center allows you access to the Westside Recreation Center. This does not include Midco® Aquatic Center. To learn more about admission to the Midco® Aquatic Center, visitsiouxfalls.gov/swim-pass.

If I have a Midco® Aquatic Center gift card, can I use the balance at the Westside Recreation Center?

No. The Midco® Aquatic Center Gift Card is only for the Midco Aquatic Center Aquatic Facility.

Can I try the Westside Recreation Center before getting a pass?

We offer day passes for admission if you prefer to try the facility first! However, we do offer a high-level, 10-minute tour of the facility before you purchase a pass. Ask for a tour at the front desk.
