Street construction news for April 16, 2026

Lane Closures – 20th Street and Cliff Avenue Reconstruction

Published on April 15, 2026

Beginning on Friday, April 17, 2026, traffic on South Cliff Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction at 20th Street to allow crews to perform underground utility work as part of the 20th Street Reconstruction Project. The work in Cliff Avenue is expected to be complete in late May.

Emergency Lane Closures – 57th Street and Louise Avenue

Beginning immediately at the intersection of South Louise Avenue and West 57th Street, the westbound lanes of 57th Street will be shifted to utilize the dedicated left turn lane for all movements. The eastbound left turn lane on West 57th Street turning north onto Louise Avenue will be closed. Eastbound traffic on West 57th Street will not be able to turn north onto Louise Avenue.

City, Partners to Host 11th Annual Big Sioux River Cleanup

he City of Sioux Falls, in partnership with Friends of the Big Sioux River, will host the 11th annual Big Sioux River Greenway Cleanup on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. The event is the city’s largest coordinated litter-removal effort, bringing together community volunteers each year to help protect and clean up the Big Sioux River.
