Find Your Spot in Downtown Sioux Falls
With more than 4,000 public spaces downtown, we’re confident you’ll find a spot. We offer a mix of streets, parking ramps, and lots. To avoid any unexpected tickets, please take a moment to double-check posted signs for time limits and any special parking restrictions.
To help you plan your visit, we've created a detailed parking map with availability and rates.

Payment Options: Cash, Credit, and Mobile
Our standard parking rate is $1.50 per hour during enforcement hours: on weekdays, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Parking ramps and lots are free after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.
Carrying change isn't always convenient, so we offer several easy payment options.
- Payment Kiosks: Many lots and ramps feature kiosks where you can pay with cash or credit card. Simply note your license plate number and pre-pay for your spot.
- Park Smarter App: For seamless mobile payments, download the Park Smarter app from the Apple or Google Play store.
- NEW Text-to-Pay: This spring, we’re introducing text-to-pay at more than 900 parking spots. Text the code on the meter to receive a link where you can securely pay with a credit card. Plus, you can remotely extend your parking time from your phone. Please note: this payment platform does not communicate with the physical meter. Don’t panic: You will not be ticketed; your payment is fully recorded in our ticketing software. There is a $0.45 convenience fee for this option.
Keeping Our Historic Streets Moving: Extended Vehicle Restrictions
Phillips Avenue is a beloved historic street, and we’re committed to keeping it accessible for everyone. To ensure smooth traffic flow, vehicles parked on Phillips Avenue between 9th and 13th Streets must maintain at least 10 feet of clearance from the center line. Vehicles that do not meet this requirement may receive a $15 citation. For extended vehicles, we suggest using alternative street parking or our convenient parking ramps. Lines have been painted to clearly indicate the 10-foot clearance.

Why Do We Charge for Parking?
Our goal is to ensure parking availability for residents, customers, and visitors exploring our vibrant downtown. Paid parking encourages turnover, allowing more people to find spots throughout the day and support local businesses. For downtown employees seeking long-term parking solutions, we offer monthly lease options. We believe this system creates a more efficient and accessible downtown for everyone.
Saturday Meter Enforcement
Effective May 1, 2025, parking meters will require payment on Saturdays from 9 a.m .to 5 p.m. Parking ramps and lots, however, will continue to offer free parking on Saturdays. Always check posted signs at the meter.
Watch for Pay to Park labels for new mobile payment options.
Paid Online but Meter Still Expired?
Don't worry! Your payment is registered. Certain payment options don’t provide instant communication with the physical meter. However, your payment is securely logged in our ticketing system. When our enforcement officers check the meters, your license plate will show as paid.
